Kay's retiring???

Thirty-eight years should be enough for anyone. Actually, I'm trading over 700 children for two, Lilly and Quentin! And aren't they cute? Despite Lilly's 'mischievous" nature, I'm counting on her help this summer. Ending a school year is always hectic, so I'm still in that mode--the 'what the heck, I'm retiring' hasn't really kicked in yet.

I was looking forward to babysitting this summer, working in the gardens, and having our 'open garden' days--but with this crazy weather, I doubt if I'll have many flowers to show. Our eight inch snow last week (that followed a day in the 80s) insulated the tender growth, but the 23 degree freeze forecast for Tuesday will probably decimate the gardens. I'm just glad I didn't agree to be on the official Garden Tour!

Jack has covered his vegetable garden with loose hay, but there's no way I can do that with the flower gardens. Such is life...Jack's rebuilding the carport and we look like a construction zone, so I wasn't that keen on 'tours' anyway.

Graduate School

Well everyone in case you haven't heard I am going back to school once again. I have entered Grad School! I am currently enrolled in 6 hours at OSU Tulsa. I am working towards getting my Masters in Educational Leadership Studies Higher Education. I am looking to get my degree so that I can follow in granddad's foot steps and one day help run a major University. It will only take me two years (I hope) to complete the program. This also means that I will try to get out of the teaching world at the end of this academic year. I figure I might have to take a pay cut, but in return I will gain much need connections and some more experience. I love that I work with kids, but I am bored of teaching the same material every 18 weeks. Maybe if I taught at a school where I had the same kids all year it would be a little different. I am teaching the Chemistry portion of Physical Science twice this term (two 9 week sessions). How boring is that?
Anyhow, I am very excited about the prospect of a career change and look forward to being back on a university campus. Tonight was my first class and I was super excited to go, however, after sitting there for 30 and the professor never showing, all 4 of us left. What a let down. Tomorrow I go again to a different class, hopefully it will turn out better.
